Distribution: Occurring west of the Cascades crest in Washington; British Columbia to California; also along the Gulf Coast and in the northeastern U.S.

Habitat: Weed in disturbed areas, typically where moist.

Flowers: April-June

Origin: Introduced from Europe

Growth Duration: Annual

Conservation Status: Not of concern

Pollination: Bumblebees, bees

Description:
General:

Annual herb with stems square in cross section and branching below.

Leaves:

Opposite, sessile or short petiolate.

Flowers:

Pink, small; in axillary clusters along stem.

Fruits:

4 small nutlets.

Comments:

This species is not listed for Washington by most sources. It has recently been found fairly well established in several locations in the Puget Trough and should be expected to turn up again.
